Retail

Reality Check members recently went out to the local retail stores around Chateaugay. I don't know if you have been noticing but there are ads in the windows which have been placed by tobacco brand Representative. We took initiative to make a note of these ads. I'm not going to name names, but did you know some of these stores are getting paid for these ridiculous ads. These ads are placed meticulously low in door windows so that younger children can notice these ads. Do you like the idea of children being exposed to these ads. There is a high percentage of children who are exposed to ads, that start smoking. they are enticed by these ads. these ads seem pretty cool the way television, magazines, and even celebrities make them seem. THEY ARE NOT COOL! HELP STOP IT WITH YOUR SUPPORT. LEARN THE FACTS. Educate yourself on what is really happening. Be Aware, and don't forget there is always information available right near you. if you are looking for more information talk to one of our reality check members. Magazine Adds!!!

hey everyone!!!!!!

Have you noticed the new tobacco ads!!!??? The Spit less and smokeless ones!!! Inst that special?
Is school a place where children and teenagers can learn and grow in a safe and secure environment?


School libraries should not be an outlet for the tobacco industry to target youth. If you look they are out there. Me: i was looking through a magazine and happened to come upon a add for snus smokeless and spit less tobacco product. so as you can tell i already about this stuff and i was disgusted so i looked further into the add. ok i was reading and they were trying to tell me (the add) that this product is date-friendly? would you go out on a date with someone knowing they are using a tobacco product. just think of the smell when your sitting talking to them..idk about you but that grosses me out. not me: so do what you can and make anyone possable aware of the adds being in school libraries. and its true they are there and they do affect children a lot more than you think. it is a higher percentage for children to use tabacco products due to advertisement rather than no advertisement. be aware!!!!

RC TRAINING

More on the Training, on the 25th we had a training at the YMCA for Franklin County, at this training we explored our policies, facts, point of purchase, and more. we started off the event with a ice breaker playing a game called autograph bingo, this is a game where there are random facts in the bingo spaces. like, who's addicted to txting. anyway, if someone was considered one of the spaces you get their autograph. and so-on ans so-on. so as you can see we play games like this sometimes, just so we can get to know each other a little better. more on the trainging, we then worked on our policies, wich are our like rules, is what you can call them. which we want the tobaaco companies to follow. we worked on this for a little while and discused what we thought and what we are really tring to do!!!!....more on this later.......

Whats the RC News

This goes out to all you RC Members that may not know this, Mark this Date on your Calendar. Reality Check will be having a training on the 25th of January at the YMCA in Malone. Remember that your Letters to the editor on P.O.P should be finished by the 28th of January. Keep that in your mind!!!! If any RC Members would like to go to the dance that Brushton is putting on the 30th of January, just let Linda know, she will get us in!!! Be Aware!!!!!



New Tabacco products that are being advertised to children!!!!
Be Aware Teens can hgide these harmful products in classes and many other public places!!!!!

The dissolvable products -- a pellet (Camel Orbs), a twisted stick the size of a toothpick (Camel Sticks) and a film strip for the tongue (Camel Strips) The products purportedly melt in the mouth within three to 15 minutes. RJR said the Strips melt fastest, the toothpick-like Sticks dissolve in about 10 minutes, and the pellet-size Orbs last the longest. The nicotine delivery of the products is said to be high: whereas a cigarette smoker typically takes in about 1 milligram of nicotine, the Camel Dissolvables are said to deliver about 0.6 to 3.1 mg of nicotine each. Reynolds plans to test the new products in Indianapolis; Columbus, Ohio; and Portland, Ore in 2009. The orbs and sticks products will have their debut in January and the strips in the second quarter
